Inroads to Agriculture Institute

The goal of the Aboriginal Skills and Employment Program is to build employment opportunities, strength and capacity for First Nations communities.

Inroad to Agriculture

The Inroads to Agriculture Institute

The Inroads to Agriculture Institute (IAI) is a $5.09 million partnership among the Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan, One Earth Farms, First Nations, and training institutes. Under the program, First Nations and Métis trainees receive vital training, certification and job placement support to advance in the agriculture and agri-services sectors.

With a goal of creating 104 long-term, sustainable employment opportunities, IAI is working to provide training to give Aboriginal people skills to secure sustainable employment that will lead to lasting benefits for their communities, families and individuals.

Inroads to Agriculture is part of the Aboriginal Skills and Employment Partnership (ASEP) program, launched in 2003 as an $85M, five-year labour market initiative that provides skills development, on-the-job work experience and long-term employment opportunities in the Saskatchewan Agriculture industry.

OEF Participation in Inroads to Agriculture

Currently IAI has 80 people in training, 16 of which are OEF employees. They come from Gordon, Muskowekwan, Yellow Quill, Little Pine, Thunderchild and Kawacatoose First Nations in Saskatchewan, and the Blood Tribe First Nation in Alberta.
