While investing time and energy through collaborations with educational partners, One Earth Farms has generated an interest in sustainable agriculture and helped develop resources for an agricultural labour pool.

Aboriginal Agriculture and Land Management Post-Graduate Diploma

Thanks to a $1M donation from the Sprott Foundation, the University of Saskatchewan hosts a Post-Graduate Diploma in Aboriginal Agriculture and Land Management. The Diploma provides students with practical training in agribusiness and land management. The program is primarily for Aboriginal students who hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a non-agricultural discipline.

The Diploma includes three areas of study: agriculture business and land management, agricultural sector and indigenous knowledge, and indigenous economic development. A learning practicum applies knowledge gained within a community-based project.

Post-secondary Training Partnerships

One Earth Farms is pursuing opportunities for partnerships to train post-secondary students in agriculture, business, and land stewardship. Partnership discussions are taking place with educational institutions across the Prairie Provinces to extend and expand the educational opportunities for First Nations citizens who wish participate directly in the world of agriculture.

One Earth Farms Talks to Kids in Schools

One Earth Farms visits elementary schools, such as Muskowekwan Elementary School in Lestock, SK, and Confederation Park School in Saskatoon, to talk to children about farming and land stewardship as a meaningful and viable career option. The messages delivered during these school visits reflect One Earth Farm’s philosophy of sustainable land development within a wider context of community develop, land stewardship and world hunger.
